Professional Boundaries Statement

For Di Hassall - Psychosexual & Relationship Psychotherapist | Clinical Supervisor | Intimacy Coach

In addition to my adherence to the Codes of Ethics of my professional organisations, the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), I hold additional professional boundaries.

Beyond my life as a therapist, I am an openly non-monogamous, queer and kinky human. As I live in rural Dorset and work as a therapist and supervisor online, the chances of me encountering clients in LGBTQIA+ and kink spaces, or on dating apps, are small. However, I have a personal and ethical obligation to share my professional boundaries with potential, present and past clients.

Social Media

My personal social media accounts are private, apart from LinkedIn.

I have professional Facebook and Instagram accounts – Your Time To Talk – which are public.

Queer & Kinky Spaces

If you are active within LGBTQIA+ and/or kinky communities, and we live close enough to potentially bump into each other, we will discuss and agree on how we would navigate such an occurrence at the start of our work together.

Dating Apps

Similarly, we may ‘see’ each other on dating apps.

If I recognise a client, past or present, on a dating app, I will block them if possible to prevent their profiles from being visible to me in future. If a client sees me on a dating app, I ask them to do the same.

I am always open to talking with clients about their thoughts and feelings arising from seeing me as their therapist on a dating app or in community or play spaces.
